Science activity

Under the direction outlined in the White Sturgeon Science Plan, the White Sturgeon Science Program seeks to fill critical knowledge gaps in the ecology of California’s White Sturgeon and improve our knowledge of stressors, including the impacts from the operation of the State Water Project. A mathematical life cycle model will be the keystone element of the Science Program, which will shape and inform the efforts to tackle the other priority science areas: reducing uncertainty pertaining to spawning, rearing and development, new and/or improved monitoring, establishment of an entrainment and residency program at Clifton Court Forebay, development of a salvage prediction model, and improving our understanding of the impacts of harmful algal blooms.
